# Build the Parts Catalog

The flags on a part drive reporting and handling. A **critical spare** is one whose absence stops production; a **consumable** is used up; a **repairable** part goes back for repair instead of the bin; a **serialized** part is tracked unit by unit.

Navigate to **Inventory → Parts** and add these parts with the **Part Editor**. Enable them all.

Use **Manufacturer Part #** for the OEM's number when it differs from yours, so parts can be cross-referenced from a supplier's catalog. To retire a part, clear **Enabled** rather than deleting it, so its history stays intact.
