# Work Orders

Use these questions to prepare for the Kanoa Maintenance certification exam.

<details>
<summary>What's the difference between a work order template and a work order?</summary>

The template defines the maintenance and when it should happen. A work order is one real job generated from it, assigned and worked by a technician. See [Work Orders](../02-work-orders/index.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>You created a template, but no work order appeared. What's the most likely reason?</summary>

The template's version status isn't Released. Templates generate nothing until they are. See [Raise a One-Time Work Order](../02-work-orders/1-one-time-work-order.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>Which schedule type would you use for maintenance every 500 run hours, and which for a weekly inspection?</summary>

Condition, on Run Hours, for the first; Recurring for the second. See [Condition-Based Maintenance](../02-work-orders/4-condition-based.md) and [Schedule Recurring PM](../02-work-orders/3-recurring-pm.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>What does Generate Ahead do on a recurring template?</summary>

It creates work orders that many days before they're due, so planners can see the coming workload. See [Schedule Recurring PM](../02-work-orders/3-recurring-pm.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>Two technicians work on one repair. How is their time recorded?</summary>

Each gets an entry in the work order's Technicians list, with their own work type and duration. See [Work a Work Order](../02-work-orders/2-execute-a-work-order.md).
