# Create Dynamic Attributes

Manual Pack 1 is staffed by hand, and the number of packers changes through the shift as people move between lines. Recording crew size as a dynamic attribute lets you later compare output per person, or see whether quality drops when the line is short-handed.

:::action[Define the attribute]

1. Navigate to **Configuration → Ops → Dynamic Attributes**.
2. Click the edit button above the **Attributes** list to open the attribute editor.
3. Create a folder named `Labor`.
4. Inside `Labor`, create a dynamic attribute named `Crew Size`.

:::

:::action[Link it to Manual Pack 1]

1. Select `Crew Size` in the **Attribute Settings** pane and click the view button.
2. Click the add button to add a data source.
3. Pick **Manual Pack 1** with the asset selector, enable it, and save.

:::

An attribute only records values for assets it's linked to. Linking also defines where the attribute appears in selectors on the Attribute Events screen and in the entry views you'll use next.

:::info[Values from tags]
If a value already exists in a PLC tag, select that tag in the data source with the tag browser and Kanoa collects it automatically. **Scale Factor** converts the raw PLC value, and **Ignore zero values** skips storing zeros you don't care about. Crew size is entered by people, so leave the tag empty here.
:::

:::action[Record attribute events by hand]

1. Navigate to **Ops → Operations → Attribute Events**.
2. Select **Manual Pack 1**, the `Crew Size` attribute, and today's date range.
3. Add an event with the value `3`, timed two hours ago.
4. Add a second event with the value `2`, timed one hour ago.
5. Save, and confirm both events appear in the table.

The Attribute Events screen is an administrator's tool for reviewing and correcting history.
