# First Article Inspection

Use these questions to prepare for the Kanoa Quality certification exam.

<details>
<summary>When should you use an item set instead of an item class?</summary>

When the grouping you need, such as part families that share a spec, doesn't match the item class hierarchy. Each item can be in only one item set. See [Item Sets and Attribute Tolerances](../03-first-article-inspection/1-item-sets-and-tolerances.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>A diameter falls between the LCL and the LSL. How is it evaluated?</summary>

It passes, but is highlighted as a warning. Outside LSL/USL it fails, and outside LEL/UEL it can't be entered. See [Item Sets and Attribute Tolerances](../03-first-article-inspection/1-item-sets-and-tolerances.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>Length readings of 150 and 205 are entered with aggregation Max and a range of 100 to 200. Does it pass?</summary>

No. The Max is 205, which is outside the range. See [Build the FAI Check Sheet](../03-first-article-inspection/2-build-the-fai-check-sheet.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>A machine enters Production, but no FAI is issued. What should you check?</summary>

That Enable Quality Triggers is on for the asset, which needs the asset to be OEE enabled, and that the check sheet is released with a Mode Change trigger for Production. Also allow for the trigger's delay. See [Trigger and Notify](../03-first-article-inspection/3-trigger-and-notify.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>Where does a triggered FAI get its asset and item?</summary>

From the production run: the asset that entered Production and the item running on it. See [Trigger and Notify](../03-first-article-inspection/3-trigger-and-notify.md).

</details>

<details>
<summary>What does the Check Summary show, and what doesn't it show?</summary>

It shows how many checks were Approved, Due, Over Due, Missed, Cancelled or Rejected. It doesn't chart measured values; use Check Details for that. See [Analyze Compliance with the Check Summary](../03-first-article-inspection/4-check-summary.md).
