Analytics Check

The Asset Selector and Date Range Selector widgets have no parameters of their own. What do they do on a dashboard?

They set the context for the rest of the dashboard. The asset and date range a user picks are applied to the other widgets on that dashboard, so a single dashboard can analyze any asset over any time range. See Build a Dashboard and Dashboards.

You built a dashboard, but it doesn't appear in the dashboard selector. Which settings should you check?

Check that the dashboard is Enabled, because a dashboard must be enabled to show up in the dashboard selector. If other users can't see it, also check Private: a private dashboard is visible only to the user who created it. See Dashboards.

In the Reliability KPIs report, how do you see the individual reasons behind a loss bucket such as Break Down?

Click that part of the bar chart in the Loss Bucket Summary chart. The Loss Bucket Detail chart then shows all the reasons for that asset that contributed to the bucket. See Reliability KPIs.

A TV on the plant floor opens its marquee URL, but no marquee has been assigned to that display yet. What does it show?

The default dashboard. Once you assign a marquee to the display in the Marquee Editor, the change is pushed to the device without touching the TV. See Build a Marquee.

On an analytics dashboard, what does setting a widget's assetPath parameter to null do?

The widget uses the asset currently chosen in the dashboard's Asset Selector. Hardcoding an asset path instead makes the widget always show that one asset. See Build a Dashboard.

How do you give a dashboard a stacked layout on phones but a side-by-side layout on desktop?

Switch the dashboard editor to the Mobile layout and place the widgets again in a vertical arrangement. Each breakpoint (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile) can have its own layout; if only one breakpoint is configured, that layout is shown on every screen size. See Build a Dashboard.

What is the difference between a marquee and a display?

A marquee is a rotating list of dashboards, each with a duration, sort order, and enabled setting. A display represents a specific screen or station with a unique URL (site code, location, and screen name), and is assigned a marquee and a theme (Light or Dark). See Build a Marquee.

Why should dashboards used in a marquee avoid selector widgets?

Marquee displays are passive — a TV should not require anyone to interact with it. Use hardcoded asset paths, default time ranges, and preconfigured widget parameters instead. See Build a Marquee.
