Work Orders

Use these questions to prepare for the Kanoa Maintenance certification exam.

What's the difference between a work order template and a work order?

The template defines the maintenance and when it should happen. A work order is one real job generated from it, assigned and worked by a technician. See Work Orders.

You created a template, but no work order appeared. What's the most likely reason?

The template's version status isn't Released. Templates generate nothing until they are. See Raise a One-Time Work Order.

Which schedule type would you use for maintenance every 500 run hours, and which for a weekly inspection?

Condition, on Run Hours, for the first; Recurring for the second. See Condition-Based Maintenance and Schedule Recurring PM.

What does Generate Ahead do on a recurring template?

It creates work orders that many days before they're due, so planners can see the coming workload. See Schedule Recurring PM.

Two technicians work on one repair. How is their time recorded?

Each gets an entry in the work order's Technicians list, with their own work type and duration. See Work a Work Order.
